At Cactus Becks, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use it, and what rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who we are

What we collect
Depending on how you use our site, we may collect:
- Contact and order details: name, address, email, phone number
- Payment information: processed securely by our payment providers (we don't store full card details)
- Account details: if you create an account
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and how you use our site (via cookies)
- Marketing preferences: if you sign up for our newsletter
Why we use it, and our legal basis
Under the GDPR, we only process your data when we have a legal basis:
- To process and deliver your orders — basis: performance of our contract with you
- To provide customer service — basis: performance of contract / legitimate interest
- To send marketing (newsletter, offers) — basis: your consent (you can withdraw it anytime)
- To prevent fraud and secure our site — basis: legitimate interest
- To comply with legal obligations (e.g. tax and accounting records) — basis: legal obligation
Who we share it with
We share data only with parties that help us run the store, including:
- Shopify — our e-commerce platform
- Our payment providers (Shopify Payments, PayPal, Viva.com, and Mollie) — to process payments securely
- Our email marketing provider — to send newsletters and offers if you've opted in
- Our shipping carriers (such as PostNL, DHL, UPS and FedEx) — to deliver your order
- Authorities, where legally required
Some of these providers may process data outside the EU. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your data only as long as necessary:
- Order and invoice data: 7 years (as required by Dutch tax law)
- Account data: as long as your account is active
- Marketing data: until you unsubscribe
- Technical and cookie data: up to 12 months
Cookies
We use cookies to make the site work, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used, and (with your consent) for marketing. When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or refuse non-essential cookies. You can change your choice anytime through the banner or your browser settings.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to or restrict processing
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl)
